IIHS Reports that LaneSense Helps Make Driving Our Roads Safer

Recently, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) revealed that lane-departure warning systems are having a positive, significant effect on our country's highways and roads. The study examined accident data from the year 2015 and concluded that the technology has helped reduce the number of injury-causing accidents by 21 percent.

LaneSense Lane Departure Warning System, which is offered in select FCA vehicles sold in the United States, helps drivers remain in their lane by giving subtle steering wheel inputs that indicate unintended lane departures and provide corrective actions. The technology uses a camera-based vision sensor to establish the vehicle's position on the road; if it detects that a lane shift has occurred without the turn signal being used, it will provide the driver with a warning. If the vehicle drifts too far out of the established lane, the system provides a backup visual warning.

LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus is available on these vehicles:

  • 2017 Jeep Renegade, Compass, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee SUVs
  • 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan and Chrysler 300 sedan
